Receptionist 

Location: Fulford School 

Salary: Grade 4 – Range £25,114 – £26,319

Actual Annual Salary: £21,563 – £22,598 – Based on working 35 hours per week and term time working plus 3 additional weeks in the school holidays.

Contract: Full time, Permanent, 35 hours per week, Term time plus 3 weeks.  

 
About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, organised and professional Receptionist to join our busy school office team. As one of the first points of contact for parents, visitors, students and staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and welcoming environment whilst ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school’s administrative functions. The role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work at the heart of a thriving school community.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a professional and welcoming reception service to visitors, parents, students and staff.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries and ensure messages are communicated accurately and efficiently.
  • Carry out a range of administrative duties including correspondence, filing, data entry, document production and maintaining records.
  • Support pupil admissions, leavers’ processes and the production of internal and external returns.
  • Assist with the organisation of school trips, events and other school activities.
  • Support financial administration, including processing orders, invoices and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist with staff absence administration and the arrangement of supply cover.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective and efficient office operations.
  • Provide emergency first aid support where required (training can be provided).

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoys working with a wide range of people.
  • Is friendly, approachable and professional.
  • Can manage a varied workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Has good IT skills and is confident using Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and can maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Is proactive, flexible and able to use their own initiative.
  • Shares our commitment to supporting students and contributing positively to the wider school community.
