Science Technician
Location: Fulford School
Salary: Grade 5 (£26,748 – £27,935)
Actual Annual Salary: £23,044 – £24,067 – Based on 37 hours per week, Term time only
Contract: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week
Start date: 7th September 2026
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Science Technician. If you have a genuine passion for science, and enjoy working in a supportive and collaborative environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for scientific experiments and demonstrations.
Maintain and organize laboratory inventory, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and materials.
Assist science teachers and researchers in conducting experiments, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with safety protocols and regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of laboratory facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive working environment.
Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.
Document experimental procedures and results accurately for future reference.
Requirements:
A genuine passion for science
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain an orderly and well-stocked laboratory.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, researchers, and fellow technicians.
The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new techniques and technologies.
Minimum qualifications of 5 GCSE’s or the equivalent including maths, English and ideally science.
IT skills, including word, excel, publisher and email
Previous experience as a science technician or working in a laboratory setting is desirable but not essential.
