A-Level grading and ranking process: update

posted in: News | 0

Dear Year 13 Students and Parents

Following the government’s announcement on Monday 17th August regarding A Level grades, we’d like to update you on the current situation.

Students will now be awarded their Centre Assessed Grades rather than the grades that were generated by Ofqual’s algorithm. Centre Assessed Grades are the grades generated by the school following a rigorous internal moderation process. Where the grades generated by the algorithm were higher than the Centre Assessed Grades, the higher grade will stand – we are contacting students individually where this is the case.

The exam boards will send through the officially updated grades to the school and we will post them out as soon as we receive them.

With regards to BTEC qualifications, we are still awaiting confirmation from central government on what will happen with the grades that were awarded last Thursday.

If any of you have any queries about university places, please contact the relevant university admissions departments to discuss your situation. If any of you urgently need to know your Centre Assessed Grades to help with any negotiations, please contact the school office.

With very best wishes during what has been an unsettling time.
